TNT Delivers its Most-Viewed NBA Western Conference Finals Game 5 of All Time

TNT’s exclusive presentation of the 2016 NBA Western Conference Finals Game 5 – Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors – on Thursday, May 26, delivered the network’s most-viewed NBA Western Conference Finals Game 5 telecast of all time. Last night’s game telecast averaged 10 million total viewers and a 6.1 U.S. HH rating, based on Nielsen Fast Nationals, to also garner the most-viewed program of the night on cable, according to metered market delivery.
Additionally, TNT’s Inside the NBA netted its highest overnight rating of the playoffs to date, with the 3.4 HH ratingranking as the second-best program of the night on cable television.
Last night’s Thunder/Warriors telecast – peaking with an average of 13.6 million viewers and an 8.1 U.S. HH ratingfrom 11:15-11:30 p.m. ET – is up 44% in total viewers and 42% in U.S. HH rating when compared with 2014, the last time the network televised the Western Conference Finals (Oklahoma City vs. San Antonio). This year’s coverage of WCF Game 5 also generated double-digit audience growth across all key demos including a 42% increase in People 18-34 and 35% increase in Men 18-34.
Top local markets for last night’s Thunder/Warriors telecast — Oklahoma City (25.0), San Francisco (23.7), Cleveland (15.2) Tulsa (13.2), and Miami (11.4).
Turner’s TV Everywhere platforms generated 702,000 uniques for last night’s Thunder/Warriors game, 15.9 million minutes of consumption and 1.3 million video starts.
Content published via NBA on TNT’s Facebook and Twitter accounts have generated 1.8 billion social media impressions during the 2016 NBA Playoffs – up 48% over last year – including 435 million impressions during the Conference Finals. Turner’s accounts have driven more than 147 million video views since the start of the playoffs, up 140% vs. 2015.
TNT’s exclusive coverage of the 2016 Western Conference Finals will continue Saturday, May 28, with Game 6 of the series at 9 p.m. The network’s coverage will begin with NBA Tip-Off presented by Autotrader at 8 p.m. with host Ernie Johnson and analysts Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal.
